Software Downloads

Here you find software for a wide variety of systems for downloading, some of it can not be found on the official site. Note that for downloading and installing the software - unpacking and executing, or transferring to your handheld, resp. - you need a little computer experience (or probably some assistance...).
Please consider that you may need an adapter to connect the POCKET READER to a non-standard-PC-system (see documents).
Check the FAQ for the preconditions for your computer connecting to the POCKET READER.

If missing or defect: here is delphimm.dll (=> save in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder)
Note: neither this file nor borlndmm.dll is required by the latest PReader software, and they are most likely not required by any other software on your system. 
If you receive a respective error message, please proceed in the following way:
* deinstall PReader
* delete delphimm.dll and/or borlndmm.dll (you may want to save them to a backup-folder before, though)
* install PReader V1.22

How to download and install the Windows software

  1. Click on the link Windows 95, 98, Me, NT4.0, 2000 and XP. In most browsers, this should open a dialogue window allowing you to save the archive file "pri122.zip" to a selected folder on your computer's hard disk.
    Note: if a dialogue window doesn't pop up on clicking the link, do right-click the link, and from the context menu select "save as..." or "save link as...", resp.
  2. Once you saved the file to your hard disk, use a decompression software like WinZip (available here) to unzip (=extract) the files contained in the archive into some (temporary) installation folder (you may want to create such a folder for this purpose).
    Note: some versions of WinZip will allow you to install the software - this will spare you the next step.
  3. After extracting the files, change to the respective installation folder and run "setup.exe". Follow the instructions on the screen. 

Note: if you have an older version of the PReader software installed, it may be a good idea to uninstall this older version prior to installing V1.22.

ATTENTION!
If you have installed the Windows software from the original US-CD:
do NOT uninstall the PReader program via the 'Uninstall Pocket Reader' link which you can find in the installation folder (in general this would be 'C:\Program files\SIEMENS\PReader')  - this might result in data loss!

If you want to remove the software from your computer, please download and run update.exe. Once it's finished, you'll be able to launch the uninstaller from the start menu.

Here's the way this one works:

  1. It searches the user's hard drive(s) for the the Pocket Reader software.
  2. If it finds it, it tells the user what directory it's deleting the files from and asks to continue.
  3. If the user presses "yes" then it deletes ONLY the 13 files associated with the PReader software (the 12 PReader files and the shortcut to the uninstaller) and the Pocket Reader Start Menu items, then quits.
  4. If the user selects "no", it quits without touching anything.
  5. If it can't find the software, it prompts the user to do a manual uninstall and quits, again without touching anything, when the user presses "OK".

Hint:
If you want to manually remove the PReader software from your system, delete all the files from the folder where the program has been installed (in general "C:\Program files\SIEMENS\PReader") and purge the entries in the Start Menu (via "Start", "Settings", "Task Bar").
